The Northern Soul is the Holy Grail of dance music (dance culture). It is the essence of what is commonly called old school. Originating in the late 50's Rhythm and Blues black roots, is developed for all 60's in North American cities like Detroit (which later curiously and very self crown as the home of techno). actually were neither more nor less than productions of Soul and Rhythm and Blues, performed by independent labels and very dark, which suggests that his records were very short-run (which makes today some original records of Northern Soul reach very high prices in the market for music collectors.) Northern Soul Music is a term coined much later in England in the mid 70's, as a result of the importation of these discs (mainly 45's rpm), comes a scene which results official global clubbing phenomenon: it is born and the Northern Soul all-nighters ... so there I leave with Tears of Lee Roye, a classic scene ENJOY!.
